| Nyamwezi (?) Maternity figure Tanzania |
| I really loved the movement in the carving of this particular figure. The child on her back is not your usual "static" child on a mother's back, instead the child has it's own unique character. I liked how the child is holding on to the mother's arm and how the child is looking to the side like it is. The mother is holding the child's other leg and the child is grasping her other arm as well. This figure was acquired from the Jean-Pierre Hallet Collection 19 1/4" tall |
